be strong like a 6 year old

 

My beautiful niece turned 6 yesterday and in phoning her to say happy birthday, I asked her “what’s different now that you are 6 Summer?”

“Ummm I’m taller.  Um, stronga! Ummm, smarter….and my hair is longer!”

LOVE HER!

The confidence that came from her, even just over the phone was so admirable!  She’s 6!  She knows nothing of worry, stress, disappointment, deadlines, 5 year plans!

She just knows the simple facts.

That she IS taller.  She is STRONGER. She is SMARTER!  And the hair, well thats just a bonus!

It’s what I think we all need more of.  Getting the basics right and talking positive to ourselves.  To be PROUD of who we are and BRAVE enough to say it out loud!

We need to have the mind of a 6 year old! To realise just how wonderfully strong and smart we are!

My husband and I have said this year that if we are wanting to have bread, we have to make it ourselves.

So last night the craving hit, I wanted to have bread for breakfast the next morning.  Checked what we had in the pantry and googled away, finding this beauty matching our ingredients!    Thank goodness for Google and delicious finds!

I had mine with a mushroom and cherry tomato (from the garden) bruschetta with tarragon and parsley (from the garden).  Then pan fried a slice of bread in the pan once they were cooked.

the way, truth & light!

For healing Lord you are the way.

For direction and answers Lord you are the truth.

For hope, love and peace, Jesus you are the light.

Through every step I take, in every word I speak and every action I make, Jesus I come to you!   That Lord your Son becomes my breath, my waking thought, my lasting moment.  

That through every thought of confusion or heartbreaking cry of help Lord I come to you.  That my leaning into you for answers is enough.  That you provide me with the tools to not battle through a day but to ease through it. 

That I don’t have to have all the answers or have things the way I imagine them to be, but place within me that I am enough just the way I am, because I have you!

Grow this feeling, nurture it and let it bloom Lord.
