i want to be better

grace demands change2

I’ve been thinking a lot about this quote over the past few days“God will take you as you are, but the gospel demands change – grace demands change” Todd White. (since I posted this in my Friday favorites).

It has made me think about how it can often be perceived that you have to “change” to be a Christian. That there are all these strict rules you have to follow or that you have to change your whole life to live this “new” way.

I don’t think it’s about having to change just because you’ve found Jesus.

I think it’s because you HAVE changed, that everything else ends up flowing from that.

You want to live your life better, you want to treat others better, to treat yourself better and BE better – because you have been saved and you know that God loves you!

It’s no less than life changing in the best possible way. Especially so because you just keep changing for the rest of your life because Christ keeps growing within you!!!

It’s not complicated, it’s actually really simple.  It’s about kindness, empathy, gentleness and treating others as you want to be treated.

It’s a wonderful feeling of being reinvigorated daily. To keep trying to be the  best version of yourself as possible because you have God in your life.

  1. I agree with you – I think it’s hard to NOT be changed when you know the love of Him & have that close relationship with Him. Often times we think of change as a negative or scary thing, but forget about the changes that involve showing more kindness to more people 🙂 I’m with you, Finley!

    1. Yes definitely!!! Its incredible how simple it can be. Even for people who say that they aren’t Christian – just going and helping someone else and taking the focus is what its all about! Thanks so much for your reading lovely lady!

  2. Love this, Finley. It’s funny because I totally agree with you and I think because people have misinterpreted it for so long it can be used to drive people away. Thinking there are all these rules to living for Christ. Really all you need to do is be who you are and He will do the rest. When I look back at the past 3 years I have lived for Him, I can see such a change that I didn’t even think was possible when I began this journey – and its all because of Him. He changed things in my heart and the way I felt and acted towards situations overtime and I have become more in line with Him through the process. I think understanding its a process is such a help to being open to the change. It will change you when you receive Him! Truth changed me! Thanks for writing this!

    1. Aww thanks lovely Jena thank you for reading! I noticed that life has definitely become easier as a Christian. The worry, the anxiousness that I used to experience has definitely faded and knowing that sticking with Christ, it can only get better:)

I would love for you to leave a reply here
